Viliam

23 March 2011

Autism is a problem that many of those who suffer it (family included) have no other choice but to face it with humor and a lot of patience. We saw recently a great Spanish animated short from the parent’s point of view, this one by Veronika Obertová (Slovakia) describes it with a very unique style.

It’s the story of Viliam, who lives his own animated life within the real world. Childish fun turns into a problem, the problem becomes a solution. No solution is perfect though… her graduation film animated with Michaela Čopíková (2009) which has won several prizes over the last year.

She’s got many more shorts on her vimeo page (or webpage), but beware… they have the genuine eastern European abstract + absurd +  incomprehensible touch.  Always worth watching her crazy style.
