Metropole Orkest

Basement Jaxx goes Orchestral

15 June 2011

Look which other electro duo is going orchestral…. (not Frenchies this time thanks)…

The London dance quintessential Banana Kru! Yep, Mr Buxton & Mr Ratcliffe who had already teamed up several times with the Dutch Metropole Orkest, went for a deeper collaboration with the Metropole & recorded not only the February Eindhoven concert, but also studio recordings who have been combined for the new album “Basement Jaxx Vs. Metropole Orkest” which shall be released July 11th on Basement Jaxx’s Atlantic Jaxx label.

On the album, the 60-piece orchestra and a 20-voice choir perform versions of tracks from the Basement Jaxx back catalog as well as an original piece by Jaxx member Felix Buxton. It also includes guest singers like the Bellrays’ Lisa Kekaula on “Good Luck” and Sharlene Hector on “Lights Go Down”.

Here’s 3 tracks from the album…. sure you’ll recognize them
