Mathilde Penicaud

Eloge de la suite 2

21 May 2012

There’s way too many galleries in Paris, specially on the Marais side but very few that actually captivate you. Hidden halfway through the Rue Saint Martin, just when trying to scape from the noisy and touristy Beaubourg square while walking towards Turbigo a little window emerges out of the blue: the Parisian version of 3eme Rue Galerie (now called Galerie Koulinsky).

A tiny room (less than 18squared meters) showcasing a concrete pipe linking precarious and transcendental art… the lastest work of Mathilde Pénicaud.  A pipe to the unknown connecting the unconceivable worlds this room could take you to, and she knows well what she’s connecting, because she’s exhibited here before, but she won’t tell us.

Which element, fluid or flow need such vertiginous tangle of concrete joints and steel rings? Make sure you feel it and touch it when you enter, you’re invited to. Too bad this part of her exhibition is as big as the rue Saint Martin room itself, if not, we would have loved to go for a loop from the inside. More info this way.
