Leah Capaldi

Leah Capaldi is presenting solo exhibition Lay Down at London’s Matt’s Gallery, opening November 11 and running to December 18.

The site-specific installation will be in the gallery’s new temporary space in Bermondsey, and will involve a new video-sculpture and continued performance inspired by Capaldi’s time spent in the American West, and explores the relationship between a Utah cowboy and his horse.

Through the vast landscape that makes up the background for the exhibition, Capaldi looks at how “power is constructed and understood”.

Leah Capaldi and Stéphanie Saadé present a joint exhibition, WITNESS MATTER, at Vitrine Gallery, running from January 21 to February 22.

Based in London and Beirut respectively, the two artists explore the performativity of objects and display, while questioning the role of the individual as “as ‘the watcher’ and ‘the watched’”. Between Capaldi’s video and installation and Saadé’s wall based object work, WITNESS MATTER interrogates “the act of encountering object, body, performer, artist or artwork”.
