FLUD

8 September 2011

For sexy news rss readers Pulse used to be my main … and unfortunately only choice. As an Android user no NYT’s News.me reader or Flipboard are available as of today, maybe that will change in the coming months as slowly but steadily Google’s platform takes over the world and most developers have no other option but bring their ideas to the green market. That or stick to Apple’s stagnant ecosystem… as both a nostalgic & a cute design niche option.

And because nowadays it’s no good to stick to niche markets Bobby, Matthew and the rest of the FLUD team decided to go green … right now precisely after signing a nice partnership with AOL so some of their websites flux get pre-installed … and you can’t remove them! (you can tick them off, but never remove them from the choice options). A partner thing you know…

And regardless of partnerships and revenue sources it’s always nice to have a wider (and beautiful) choice in our robotic devices right?

idill 2011

4 July 2011

The International competition for short films of movement idill(…. too complicated, how about on-line dance short film competition et basta?) is back another year, so get your body moving…

(Spin was 2009’s winner, no need for a highly sophisitcated human choreography as you can see)

idill –  is a competition international in scope set up by Charleroi/Danses, the Choreographic Centre of the French Community of Belgium, La Gaîté Lyrique and Sadler’s Wells, the UK’s leading Dance House, in partnership with dança em foco, international festival of video dance in Brazil (since 2011).

The aim of idill is to reveal and reward cinematographic and audiovisual creativity that has dance as its central theme, and, more broadly, movement. Particular attention is also focused on the musical dimension that accompanies or underpins the cinematographic work. idill aims at highlighting creation in contemporary dance through the poetic, innovative vision of authors and directors.

A competition for choreographers & filmmakers set on a digital format and encapsulated in a video (has to be less than 5 min) with a particular focus on alternative ways of media for production & diffusion (smart phones, mobile interfaces…).

So here you are, another on-line international short film festival with a rather original approach. The rules for submission are quite standard (detailed here)… you must be over 18, propose up to 2 films done after sept 2008… and you have until September 5th to submit your works.

Then on-line voting will start by mid-October and winners will be announced one month later. Prizes are succulent (we know most of you scan the post for this first) and there are five categories: idill Main Prize (awarded with 5000€) and then the rest … Prize for Musical Creativity, Prize for a Particular Eye/World Outlook Prize, Prize for New Creators/Prize for Innovation & Audience Prize; each awarded with 2000€.

So what do you reckon? More info & submission form on their page.
