Jesse Darling and Brace Brace join forces for Absolute Bearing, a new exhibition at London’s LD50, running from June 12 to July 11.

In nautical terms, absolute bearing is the clockwise angle between north and the object observed from the vessel. The nautical references don’t end there: the exhibition’s press release states that “two-thirds of the planet are already under water”, “everything disintegrates in the face of the wave”, and, finally: “The signs were everywhere; the churning of the water, the inevitability of the waves, these are all part of the same body, the same movement, a constant emergence and vanishing in an endless flow of continuous energy, an ongoing mixing and remixing with no separation and no boundaries—absolute liquidity.”

Taking part in the exhibition are London artist Jesse Darling and Brace Brace, the art collaboration between Berlin-based artist Annika Kuhlmann (also part of Special Service) and Christopher Kulendran Thomas

Special Service casting call @ Auto Italia, Apr 25 – 26

Berlin-based modelling agency Special Service will be casting for a new commercial at London’s Auto Italia from April 25 to 26.

The event invites anyone aged 16 and over to be a part of the agency’s new commercial, to be featured on the Special Service website for a fee and selected tapes will be screened at a (free) ticketed event on April 29

That’s part of the opti-ME* project, a month-long exhibition and event series at Auto Italia opening April 26 and running to May 25.

The exhibition explores artistic agency and modes of production, inviting collaborators to occupy a
transformed Auto Italia space and use it as an experimental testing-ground for new work and proposals.

One of these collaborators is of course Special Service, an ongoing collaboration between Annika Kuhlmann, Julia Zange and Britta Thie, founded in 2013 and announcing itself as “a new model of a modeling agency” interrogating networks of image production in fashion.
