Stellar OM Source ‘Polarity’ video

20 June 2013

After years of floating in a coma of ecstatic trance and washed-out effervescence, a bizarre utopian simulation obscuring its Ballardian undertones, Christelle Gualdi’s (aka Stellar OM Source) sound gives way to debauched rhythm, grounded in physical limitation.

As the first track on the album, Joy One Mile, released on RVNG Intl, June 10, it’s only fitting that ‘Polarity’ should get the first video treatment, directed by the artist herself. This one features bathers, lots of makeup and a swimming pool, which is a fairly apt reimagining of the submarine sonic elements of the track. Gualdi follows up the release with a European tour dates announcement, including MoMA PS1’s Warm Up and Unsound in October. See below for details. **

07/05/13 – Mediamatic Fabriek – Amsterdam, NL w/ Maxmillion Dunbar
07/06/13 – BAR – Rotterdam, NL
07/26/13 – Norberg Festival – Sweden
08/24/13 – MoMA PS1 Warm Up – New York, NY
08/31/13 – Flussi Festival – Italy
09/27/13 – Halles-St-Géry – Brussels, BE – w/ Kassem Mosse, Kelpe

Homosapien

15 May 2013

Australian hyperactive trio PVT are back to the old continent with a few concerts lined-up in France, Belgium, Germany, Iceland and The Netherlands… it seems the UK will only be getting one concert this time.

To remind us of their energetic concerts and how they always leave us wanting more they’ve reached out for Australian artist Clemens Habicht (who’s already worked with bands like Block Party or Tame Impala) to direct their latest clip “Homosapien” with a few cameos from friends, family & fans. A pretty good example on their potent live acts.

Their upcoming dates are:

May 16 France, Strasbourg, La Laiterie
May 18 Belgium, Brussels, La Chocolaterie
May 21 Germany, Berlin, Prince Charles
May 22 The Netherlands, Tilburg, 013
May 24 Iceland, Reykjavik, Reykjavik Music Mess
May 30 UK, London, Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen

DORCELSIUS ‘Isis Nile’ Teaser

30 April 2013

The live chat girl is not only the light of every lonely misfit’s life but skilled in the art of seduction. It makes sense, then, that Paris-Berlin duo  Dorcelsius should utilise the talent of their Russian friend ‘Isis’,  to announce their forthcoming tour dates and Isis Nile seven-inch out on Steak AU Zoo, May 29.

The record will also be getting a release on other labels across Europe, including Stellar Kinematics, Neh-Owh and 51 Beats, and, as a group that has been and will be touring the region heavily, it makes a lot of sense. They’ve also just released Climax Air Climax on Aural Sects, which features a cameo by Low Sea‘s Billie and a remix by Profligate, while in Isis’ words, they’d like you to “come, come, come” to their upcoming shows. Who are you to refuse, really? See their remaining tour dates below, including a performance a Paris’ Vilette Sonique Festival, below.**

08.05.13 The Student -Brussels
09.05.13 Audio Plant – Antwerp
10.05.13 Koffie5Euro – Rotterdam
25.05.13 Vilette Sonique Festival 2013 – Paris

iamamiwhoami announce tour dates.

8 April 2013

Swedish net band, iamamaiwhoami reveal their upcoming May through to June European tour dates in typically illusory manner, through their long-time medium of choice, YouTube. That said, they’re staying sparing with the numbers, playing seven dates in the the three month window, all at festivals, with a night at London’s Brixton Electric.

But then, the band have never been big on live performances, only recently starting to even do them after revealing their true identities, as Jonna Lee and producer Claes Björklund, in 2010, roughly a year after their elusive YouTube campaign went viral. In an interview with aqnb, Lee said there’s something about the live exchange that is priceless: “it’s a big difference. It’s also a ‘one moment’ thing, I like the that, something that’s brief and then it’s gone”. That brings us to our next point that iamamiwhoami shows tend to sell out, so get a ticket while you can. See below for tour dates and buy tickets here. **

May 19 – Razzmatazz, Barcelona
May 30 – Brixton Electric, London
June 1 – Forbidden fruit festival, Dublin
July 12 – Pohoda festival, Trencin
July 19 – Melt! festival, Ferropolis
July 21 – Latitude, Southwold

THEESatisfaction Loves Erykah Badu.

THEESatisfaction Announce Tour Dates.
15 February 2013

Not to rub it in or anything but one of our favourite live acts, THEESatisfaction, are touring the US in April and May with Shabazz Palaces. For those of us on another continent there’s solace in the transcendent futurist grooves of their reworked and reinstated tracks in tribute to the ‘Queen of Neo-Soul’ Erykah Badu.

As the next in line for the throne, Stasia Irons and Cat Harris-White have been producing a raft of modern beats, built on a long tradition of black empowerment and Afro-futurism in music, and last year released a brilliant, though comparatively underrated album debut awE naturalE on Seattle’s Sub Pop. Continuing on a series of ‘THEESatisfaction Loves…’ mixtapes the wonky psych-soul for Ms Badu follows on from last year’s October drop in praise of R&B singer Anita Baker. Whitey Bare Bones Project

3 January 2013

Whitey decided to give us a big big gift this past Monday when reaching those first £10,000 of his crowdfunding campaign “Bare Bones”; providing us with one another of his elusive & addictive pieces  “No more right or wrong”, something more clubby than what we’re used to.

We have to admit being quite deceived with the lack of attention towards this funding project and precisely the  media disregard… maybe we were all expecting the end of the world instead?

And because we’ve always been secretly in love with Whitey’s dark paths we’re willing to add “BB” to our long-list of supported projects. As Nathan Joseph & the always evolving Whitey project prepare and polish a new work  it looks like they’re willing to stay without label… and KS could help with that.

With this KS campaign they propose to support a physical-release dream and a never-ending tour (amongst many other crowdfunding traditional goodies) … which sounds like fun actually, so we thought…. Bare Bones will probably be released digitally but… it would be even better to hold it, something kind of rare these days.

A rough demo of his track “NMROR” was also made available via his bandcamp page as a first teaser…. have you cracked yet? We did. More info this way.

Game City Nights goes on Tour

2 October 2012

Americans have the IGF or PAX … and way too many local & national events for that nerd hobby called gaming, in the UK…. well…  you have Insomnia, or the LGF and then you have something which up until now was too local, too studentish, too…. special to become mainstream. That was up until now, because Nottingham’s famous Game City Nights (an extension of their GameCity festival taking place later on this month) are making their way out into the rest of the UK… and also Ireland!

What started nearly 3 years ago with a monthly exploration of gaming culture has quickly become one of the UK’s referent events for videogame lovers, and the best of all is that many of the talks, debates and nights’ extracts have been continuously uploaded to their youtube channel for everyone to watch. This gaming-must is now prepared to take over the UK as they are bringing their night to 10 venues from mid-November to late February. (Full list of dates & venues on their tour page).
