Roving European Biennial for Contemporary Art Manifesta 11 is on across venues in Zurich with the theme title ‘What People Do for Money: Some Joint Ventures’, running June 11 to September 18.
Curated by Christian Jankowski, the event features 30 artists from around the world reacting to the “diversity of social, political and geographical conditions in contemporary Europe”. It will take place across four venues, including Löwenbräukunst, Helmhaus, Cabaret der Künstler – Zunfthaus Voltaire and Pavillon of Reflections —a floating platform on Lake Zurich —and feature new works by the likes of Trisha Baga, Cosey Fanni Tutti, Coco Fusco, Vuk Ćosić, Daniel Kelly (DKUK), Simon Denny, and Aleksandra Domanović.
Other artists involved and worth noting include Fatima Al Qadiri & Khalid Al Gharaballi, Marguerite Humeau, Pierre Huyghe, Mark Leckey, Jill Magid, Jon Rafman, Frances Stark, Martine Syms, Pilvi Takala and more, all of whom will be contextualised by a historical exhibition co-curated by Jankowski and Francesca Gavin.
