Gonzai hits the kiosques

19 January 2013

It’s good to see that one of our favorite cultural French websites “Gonzai” risking a digital-only strategy and try luck in the traditional press business, maybe because digital-only isn’t that sane? (especially after the unexpected news of Owni’s closure last month)..

Afteir their successful Ulule crowdfunding campaign which finished last month, the Paris party people publication are releasing their beloved first child this month (7€). It seems that Frenchies are getting used to (and loving) this kind of pop & investigation literature that Gonzai are willing to push even further each couple of months… “des faits, des freaks et du fun”.

Unfortunately the mag won’t be available @ your local “kiosque” (our title is misleading yes) but they’re pretty much going for a crowdfunding-only strategy… so they only publish if their bi-monthly campaign is successful, and only those who’ve supported it will be getting their numbers…. new rules?  (well, they’re actually printing a few extra more to buy on their website).

In this first number they’re going for a few nice articles…. a 16-page dossier on the French “American-dream”, an incredible story by Muppet Show father Jim Henson or an interview with photography director Benoit Debie. We would say… this is a good start. More info this way.
