‘TT Cut .002/ Here Tyrant Death/ Look Backward Idiot’

Jonathan Mildenberg @ Treasure Town, Apr 29 – Jun 10

27 April 2016

Jonathan Mildenberg is presenting TT Cut .002/ Here, Tyrant Death/ Look Backward, Idiot at New York’s Treasure Town, opening April 29 to June 10.

The solo exhibition, to be held in the BedStuy basement space, will be a first by the New York-based artist who took part in the Wet Eyes group exhibition at Meyohas late last year. The press release refers to Mildenberg’s interests in the branch of physics dealing in behaviours and responses to very low temperatures called Cryogenics, and a refusal of the widely held belief that death is a biological inevitability, thanks to technology.

The text goes on to describe what it calls ‘Tyrant Death’, which finds “no meaning in death itself. Here, the only true death is information-death; this is death’s death” and argues, drolly, for an “ageless future utopia” where one leaves everything they love behind: “Hold steady, you pioneer. you idiot.”
