Ecological coexistence in Weird Rain at Garden L.A, May 6 – Jul 6

1 May 2017

The Weird Rain group exhibition at Los Angeles’ Garden L.A. opens May 6 and is running to July 6.

The show features work by Brody Albert, laub and Jennifer MoonSpencer Longo, Sarah Manuwal and Rob Reynolds who explore “speculative modes of ecological coexistence.”

Using wall-embedded snails, glass-blown enema bags, hanging loofahs, houseplants and paintings to name a few materials, the multimedia installation looks at the ways in which we are (dis)connected with our environment and complicates the concept of ‘Nature as other.’

Visit the Garden L.A. website for details.**

Together/ Alone @ Embassy LA, Jan 14 – 21

12 January 2016

LA’s Embassy will present Together/ Alone, opening with a performance by Jennifer Moon on January 14 and running to January 21.

Embassy is an artist-run space taking occupancy within the former Cambodian Embassy located in Los Angeles’s Chinatown. It’s organisers are: Ana Breininger,  Chanel Von Habsburg-Lothringen, and  Sarah Manuwal.

Together/ Alone is a large group show focussing on the artist book as “a record keeping device”, as something that offers a “rooted connection” to all that is material and kinetic, and as something that may resist channels of usual art production and consumption – if it wants to. An artist book is its own entity.

Artists in this show include: Petra Cortright,  Saewon Oh,  A.L Steiner,  Jonathan Campolo, and many more.

A closing reception will take place on January 21.
