Sachin Kaeley

Sachin Kaeley + Neither @ Seventeen Gallery, Sep 4 – Oct 4

3 September 2014

Seventeen Gallery celebrates its new London location with two new exhibitions – the Sachin Kaeley solo show and Neither group show – at the new Kingsland Road space, running from September 4 to October 4.

Sachin Kaeley is no stranger to the gallery, having put on a an exhibition of tactile acrylic-thick paintings at their old location in early 2013. As physical as Kaeley’s work undeniably is – his paintings have the effect of someone dipping their fingers in paint and dragging them lazily across the canvas – its aesthetic, or the aesthetic it seems to point to, is a digital one; despite their blatant materiality.

The gallery’s second and concurrent exhibition, Neither, is curated by Tim Streer and features a film and sound composition titled ‘One11 and 103’ and produced by John Cage under the supervision of Henning Lohner, as well as a video essay titled ‘Eye/Machine II’ by the recently passed Harun Farocki and Sophie Michael‘s experimental abstract film, 99 Clerkenwell Road.
