Jo-ey Tang @ Porcino, Sep 16 – Oct 22

15 September 2016

Jo-ey Tang is presenting solo exhibition Like An Intruder, The Speaker Removes His Cap, Walking In The Air With His Hands To The Ground at Porcino of Berlin’s Chert, opening September 16 and running to October 22 .

Curated by independent writer and curator Barbara Sirieix, there is characteristically little information on the show, aside from its long and cryptic title that builds on Tang’s 2014 show at Galerie Joseph Tang called a shorter Like an intruder, the speaker removes his cap

Work from that exhibition was in turn used for a 2015 joint exhibition with Shanta Rao called Patch, where the many meanings for the word were interpreted by Tang in a triptych of panels called ‘Document from Like An Intruder, The Speaker Removes His Cap’ (2015). Here, adhesive sheets were scattered with the cigarette butts collected from his previous Like an intruder… exhibition and applied with drips of butterfly pea flower tea.

In light of this layered and ongoing process spanning shows and years, one can only imagine what modified form the Paris-based artist’s practice will take.

See the Chert website for details.**
