Moth City

1 November 2012

We are lacking quality graphic on-line novels and to be honest, it’s been a while since we’ve read an engaging and superlative interactive novel. Hopefully Tim Gibson’s upcoming “Moth City” will take us into one of those alternative universes where things could go inexplicably wrong.

Tim will be telling us the story of Governor McCaw, a man who apparently has everything (beautiful daughter, beautiful mansion…) but whose weapon-industry job and company are at stake when one of his chief scientists is murdered. As you can imagine the dark secrets of his mini-empire built on top of an island (Moth City) start to come out and …. that’s all Tim can tell us for now.

The comic is about to launch …. and while we all wait you can have a look at part of his creative working process, have a look @ more artwork, or register so you get the Moth citizenship just like us!

Saatchi’s Showdown

27 December 2010

We all pretty much agree that Saatchi Gallery’s website is pretty much ugly horrible  and needs an urgent redesign. Unlike their much cleaner and welcoming Saatchi Online, but the purpose is completely different. Saatchi Online is sort of the community of individuals and platform to promote, interact, comment and showcase art (it allows artists to sell it online at the same time). A bit like Behance network but less for illustrators & graphic designers and more for artists in a Saatchi unique kind of way (the gallery has this way a rich portfolio to discover future artists to join their always controversial ranks).

In its second edition which just started earlier on this month and just like the October-Nov Showdown all the inscribed online artists will be competing against each other. Anyone (they say members but you become one by using facebook connect so….) can vote for your favorite works and the winner will get the chance to display their art at the Saatchi Gallery in London and other possible venues in major art markets.

The final winner will receive US$1000 and the runner up will receive a US$500 cash prize. The winning works will go on to display at the Saatchi Gallery in London and other possible venues in major art markets

Ok so this Showdown is closed for submissions although the voting is open (first round until January 6th and final voting with the top 128 works until January 20th), but as the Showdown is organised pretty much each 2-3 months you should look ahead for future contests and maybe register yourself…. you never know!
