“The space begs. The space weeps”: A black buck enters a freshly painted room in Kayode Ojo + Winslow Laroche’s ‘Taye Diggs’

10 April 2017

Kayode Ojo + Winslow Laroche present two person exhibition Taye Diggs at New York’s Motel, which opened March 18 and is running to April 16.

Taking its title from the screen name of actor Scott Leo ‘Taye’ Diggs, the installation features painting, sculpture and video, with some site-specific pieces that will not be shown again after the show. It is accompanied by a short text in the press release that places the audience inside an abstract, though highly allusive narrative featuring a ‘black buck’ in a white room:

“The space begs. The space weeps. Families hold yr applause until after the announcements r over. There is a brown Cadillac parked illegally out front.”

Kayode Ojo + Winslow Laroche’s Taye Diggs is on at New York’s Motel, running March 18 to April 16, 2017.
