If you’re being implicitly oppressed through codes and signals, then it’s only logical that you respond in kind. Hence, curators Brigitte Felder and Bogomir Doringer follow up FACELESS part I, exploring the appeal of “hiding, veiling and masking” the face post-9/11, with FACELESS part II at MuseumQuartier Wien, opening September 27 and running till November 24.
This exhibition will take on a more participatory role, exploring survival and rebellion “without losing face” within contemporary media culture, across disciplines and with a focus on works and lectures, performances and workshops. Artists featured include the likes of Andrew Norman Wilson, William Basinski, Jill Magid and Aram Bartholl, among a whopping 45, as well as 50 faceless images contributed by artists at facelessexhibition.net.
