18 + ‘MIXTAP3’ download

28 October 2013

LA-based duo “Boy” and “Sis” 18+ have a third mixtape out, after last year’s revelatory drag mangling MIXTA2E and those sexy SimCity renderings from 2011. The aptly-titled MIXTAP3, is a more song-oriented affair, with less of a stretched and twisted vocal assault on popular RnB and hip hop hits and more unfiltered voices from the two, generally.

There’s even a track, the bouncing auto tune number ‘test’, featuring Berlin’s AIDS-3D, a looping sample of Kendrick Lamar in ‘dead body’ and more pervy sex talk in the lyrical standout of ‘oixu’. It’s possibly one of the most interesting projects out right now.

See the 18+ website to download the mixtape. **

Pox Party release Inter FacePainter.

InterFacePainter.
23 April 2013

Putting the creativity back into the interface, art and funware developers Pox Party have released a new tool allowing for businesses and their users to individualise their own interfaces with Inter FacePainter. Drawing attention to the fact that, despite a history of progress in, say, arts, technology, literature, film, theatre, performance… the abstracted enrichment of the grids and boxes of our digital surroundings has yet to catch up. You can download the app from the Pox Party website and be comforted by the fact that, in having partnered with all the major desktop and OS developers there won’t be any headaches in the near future. InterFacePainter-boring

aqnb’s interest in the duo grew after seeing their talking heads discussing the functional nightmare of Apple’s planned obsolescence on Nik Briz’s prosumer manifesto and while they’re rolling with the punches, don’t’ expect to be able to use the system if you have a Mac OS operating system that is any older than 10.7. But in being, as they call it,  “future proof” the line must be drawn somewhere, so let’s start from here.**

Extreme Animals – RIP MCA LOUD AND UP CLOSE MEGAMIX

Extreme Animals - RIP MCA - AKA SAN DIEGO FIREWORKS 2012 FAIL-LOUD AND UP CLOSE-THE MEGAMIX.
12 February 2013

Short of an actual bomb going off, what can be more intense than a botched fireworks display, or better yet a mangled mix inspired by that very accident? Extreme Animals duo Jacob Ciocci and David Wightman deliver a pop culture massacre in the form of a demented collection of tracks, from Fatima Al Qadiri’s ‘War Games’ x Psy’s ‘Gangnam Style’ mash up to a smooth transition from Ke$ha’s ‘Thinking of You’ to Unicorn Kid’s ‘Feel So Real’, all in an easy 16+ minutes.

Demolishing the world as we know it in a typically irreverent manner, this RIP MCA – AKA SAN DIEGO FIREWORKS 2012 FAIL-LOUD AND UP CLOSE-THE MEGAMIX proves the proudly trashy spirit of Ciocci’s Paper Rad is far from dead.  Listen and download the mix here and watch the festive mishap that birthed it below. **
