Intimacy Unguarded @ Freud Museum London, Feb 27

26 February 2016

A one-day symposium called  Intimacy Unguarded: Gender, the Unconscious and Contemporary Art is on at London’s Freud Museum on February 27.

Organised in collaboration with Central Saint Martins School of Art and Design’s research project examining “the personal as material in contemporary art and writing”, the event will explore the ways in which “gender, the unconscious and intimacy” become the basis for “contemporary art, critical writing and the dynamics of the consulting room.”

Running concurrently with Emma Talbot‘s Unravel These Knots exhibition at the museum, the London-based artist will present a paper of the same name, along with taking part in a Q&A with Joanne Morra. There will also be an ‘intimate reading’ of Marlene Dumas’ art practice and contributions from psychoanalytic psychotherapists Diana Caine and Denis Echard, artists Barbara Visser and Sadie Murdoch, and cultural analyst Griselda Pollock.

See the Freud Museum London website for details.**
