London’s Cinema 6 is presenting an evening of films and presentations titled ‘There Goes the Neighbourhood’ and hosted by Full Unemployment Cinema and Southwark Notes on May 30.
Th evening debates the political and economic factors behind the gentrification and ‘regeneration’ of South London, which, at the heart of both a housing crisis and steady gentrification, has become the scene of working class displacement.
The night will feature two films, including Concrete Heart Land, documenting Heygate residents as they try to curb the displacement and dispossession of their neighbourhood, and Bleacher on the Rye, a film about the regeneration of Peckham Rye Station.
