Thinking Through Publishing @ CSM, Feb 12

Thinking Through Publishing is an all-day event happening at Central Saint Martins on February 12.

The day is organised by Nicola Guy from Flat Time House, and Ami Clarke director of Banner Repeater and sees three panel discussions throughout the course of the day, all of which address in different ways the relationship between practicing art and publishing.

‘Publishing as, or, with a gallery’ will be chaired by Lizzie Homersham, and ‘Distribution and digital alternatives’ will feature talks by Tom Clark and artist Sara MacKillop. The day ends with a discussion on ‘The lifespan on books’ with Arnaud Desjardin and Karen Di Franco.

25 Years of Photoshop Party @ The Photographers’ Gallery, Oct 24

London’s The Photographers’ Gallery is celebrating Photoshop’s 25th birthday with a party on October 24.

As part of their inaugural TPG Geekender series of events exploring photography in digital culture, the party will include ways to experience the software’s first version, 1.0, a live “cut and paste” studio and a Photoshop Battle. Food and drinks will be served with Photoshop Layer Cake and Cocktails, Adam Brown of Buncefield Records will DJ and Central Saint Martins MA Photography students will present a history and culture of Photoshop.

What is Metamodernism? @ Central Saint Martins, Jun 26

Well, it’s sold out but if you follow the FB event page linked at the end of this post, you can see coverage of the This New Feeling: What is Metamodernism? discussion at Central Saint Martins on June 26.

The talk brings together Timotheus Vermeulen and Robin van den Akker, the two authors of the academic arts and culture webzine Notes on Metamodernism and founders of Metamodernism.com, to discuss bygone days of Postmodernism and the “contextualisation of the New State of Feeling, or Metamodernism”.

Vermeulen (also a director of the Centre for New Aesthetics and professor of cultural studies and theory) and van den Akker (a cultural philospher) will be joined by Nastja Säde Rönkkö and Luke Turner (individual sites are here and here) of the collective LaBeouf, Rönkkö & Turner , to discuss their practice within the field of Metamodernism, joined by the actor Shia LaBeouf via Skype for the Q&A.
