DVDBANG Futures: Asian sci-fi DVD cinema in Waterloo, London

20 November 2014

Waterloo’s newest DVD micro-cinema and bar, DVDBANG Futures, is hosting a 10-day late-night run with screenings of science fiction movies from the Far East, running from November 21 to November 30.

As part of BFI sci-fi season, titled Days of Fear and Wonder, DVDBANG Futures has taken over an empty shop at 10 Bayliss Road in London’s Waterloo, taking popular South Korean-style karaoke rooms as inspiration and transforming the space into a cluster of private Asian sci-fi micro-cinemas.

The DVD cinema runs around the clock, equipped with a licensed bar and a stacked sci-fi library of cult classics and rare collections from East Asia, including Tetsuo: The Iron Man and Bodyhammer, Park Chan-Wook’s I’m a Cyborg But That’s Ok, pink movie musical Underwater Love and acid nightmare Gyo: Tokyo Fish Attack.
