Perce Jerrom @ 5o1.online, Feb 10

9 February 2016

Artist Perce Jerrom will present new work, Shoe Garden on the balcony space, 5o1.online, opening February 10.

5o1.online is a real space on a balcony in Leeds, running projects for three months until March 2016.

It is not clear from the accompanying text, which Jerrom has altered to sit on facebook in italics, how long Shoe Garden will go on for. The text describes enjoying engaging with the “DIY aesthetics of life hacking”, slightly changing or affecting your life for the better and the cheaper.

Taking from online open forums, Jerrom’s work will think about repairing and re-using and how the internet can now reference age old practices like making plant pots out of old shoes.

Business As Usual @ Turf Projects, Jul 9 – 30

7 July 2015

Turf Projects opens up a massive exhibition exploring how artists network and market themselves with Business As Usual, running at the South London space from July 9 to July 30.

Looking at self-marketing, often thought to be a dirty practice in the art world and one at odds with the romantic vision of the “authentic” impoverished artist, Business As Usual invites one hundred of them to explore this “almost performatory element of their practices” in the second of a series of exhibitions traveling throughout the UK.

The exhibition, organised by Perce Jerrom, includes the works of artists like Gabriel BirchViktor TimofeevMat Jenner, Julia Crabtree & William EvansPierre Clément, and Eloïse Bonneviot, as well as a programme of events, workshops, and talks.

Life Hacker @ Platform 1 Gallery, Oct 24 – 30

23 October 2014

Platform 1 Gallery at London’s Wandsworth Common Station will be hosting a small group exhibition titled Life Hacker and running from October 24 to October 30.

The show features three artists, each exploring in their own way the notion of ‘life hacks’ “[i]nspired by the growing trend online of problem solving, knowledge sharing and product subversion.” Not only does the term imply simple solutions to alleviating daily problems, but also to counter-culture movements that came about through the democratisation of information, like ‘The Anarchist Cookbook’ of the 70s, and instructional pamphlets on how to build firearms and evade the police.

The three “amateur producers” featured in the exhibition are photographer Perce Jerrom, ‘sculptural filmmaker’ and artist Myles Painter, and Desktop Residency contributing artist Josh Whitaker, each working different mediums to explore the concept.
