Jupiter Woods @ Sorbus-galleria, Apr 22 – May 1

22 April 2016

Jupiter Woods is presenting Longshore Drift at Helsinki’s Sorbus gallery, opening April 22 and running to May 21.

The London and Vienna-based space will take up residence in the Finnish capital for ten days, as a collective off-site project by four of Jupiter Woods’ six founding members: Hanna Laura Kaljo, Lucy Lopez, Carolina Ongaro and Cory Scozzari. The time-based exhibition and events programme will include artists Sanna Helena Berger,  Rob Chavasse,  Maria Gorodeckaya,  Emily Jones,  Josip Novosel and S E I D among others and draw on the titular geographical process involving the movement of sediments along a coast at an angle to the shoreline: “swash and backwash”.

The aim of Longshore Drift, opening on the Friday April 22, will evolve over the following weekend with a series of commissioned objects, gestures and acts by the 10 participating artists —also including Viktor Timofeev,  The Mycological Twist, Matilda Tjäder, and Holly White —and focus on the “embodied experience” of curators and visitors within the installation that draws on “the physical infrastructure of Jupiter Woods’ London and Vienna locations.”

See the Sorbus-galleria website for the full programme.**

biotic / abiotic @ The Gallery Apart, Nov 26 – Jan 24

25 November 2014

Rome’s The Gallery Apart brings its latest group exhibition, titled biotic/abiotic and running to their space from November 26 to January 24.

The show comes out of the Jupiter Woods curatorial platform and takes the idea of interconnectivity directly into its design, curated by Jupiter Woods’ Hanna Laura Kaljo and Lucy Lopez and in collaboration with The Gallery Apart and the Nomas Foundation.

Featuring eight different artists and artist collaborations – including Emily Jones, Chiara Camoni, Jacopo Miliani and V4ULT‘s Anna Mikkola among others – biotic / abiotic explores the points of connection (and dissolution) between the natural and the cultural.

Thank You @ Jupiter Woods, Aug 1 – 31

25 July 2014

Jupiter Woods presents its inaugural exhibition, Thank You, running as a cumulative project at their South London space over the month of August.

The new curator-run platform –comprised of Hanna Laura Kaljo, Lucy Lopez, Carolina Ongaro, Barnie Page, Cory Scozzari, and Emma Siemens-Adolphe – functions as an exhibition space,
residency programme, and shared research and studio space.

With Thank You, Jupiter Woods invites those that helped the platform in its formation to occupy the space for the month, and the collection of artists, architects and philosophers they call friends to exhibit their diverse practices.
