The 15th edition of PAF (Festival of Film Animation and Contemporary Art) is taking place around the Czech city of Olomouc, running December 1 to 4.

PAF’s aim is to bring the practice of animation into the context of cinematography, media studies and visual arts. This year’s theme will be ‘Why Look at Animals’ inspired by John Berger‘s seminal book of the same name that explores “the humanizing of animals and the significance of zoological gardens.” 

The event will be host to over seventy screenings, as well as exhibitions, installations, live performances, talks and workshops, featuring Lolina (Inga Copeland) & John T. Gast & Edith Karlson, Bill Kouligas & Harm van den Dorpel, M.E.S.H. & Michael Guidetti and Music For Your Plants, among many others.

TRADE is celebrating its one-year anniversary with a party at Berlin’s OHM on September 7.

The evening includes live performances and DJ sets from Lotic, who was interviewed last year on aqnbZakmaticAnde PramukBill Kouligas, Dan BodanDis FigLINNÉAKonx-om-PaxCrooked WavesAusschussSimon KaiserDJ Ayo plus special guests.

The relatively new club night has been putting on mid-week shows like REST at Monarch Berlin and the likes of Nkisi, Mechatok, Kamixlo, nightcoregirl and Sky H1 at OHM

Progress Bar @ Lighthouse, Nov 5

Lighthouse launches a night of “insight into the creative practice of contemporary culture” called Progress Bar, with Ville Haimala, Bill Kouligas of PAN, Jenna Sutela and Claire Tolan at their London space on November 5.

This special edition of Progress Bar is curated by artist Haimala, who is currently doing a residency at Lighthouse Studio researching the manipulation and enhancement of human hearing through “in-body biohacking” and ASMR.

For Progress Bar, Haimala invited ASMR sound artist Claire Tolan to present her work and discuss the potential for modification and expansion of sensory interfaces and artist and PAN record label founder Bill Kouligas, and will be screening ‘When You Moved’, a 2014 sci-fi video essay by Jenna Sutela.
