PFEIL Magazine #6 launch @ Shan Fu Store, Sep 6

5 September 2016

PFEIL Magazine #6 is launching at New York’s Shan Fu Store on September 6.

Each issue is dedicated to a specific theme and functions as a book, collection, and object. Taking the form of a key word, each theme adds to “an indexical collection of word-objects as objects of obsession”. Through this process, each word’s meaning is “expanded, eroded, overused, misused and ultimately enjoyed”. The sixth issue’s key word is ‘extra’ and includes contributions from Harry Burke, Isolée, Sarah Ksieska, Nicole Ondre, Fion Pellacini, Dan Rees, Amanda Ross-Ho, and Villa Design Group.

Guests are invited to come and enjoy an extra large delicious watermelon smoothie slush from Shan Fu, a supermarket, courtesy of the host, Montez Press.

See the FB event page for details.**

Paramount Ranch 2 @ Agoura Hills, Jan 31 – Feb 1

30 January 2015

“The new L.A. art fair” Paramount Ranch is running this weekend at their Agoura Hills, CA location, opening tomorrow night and running until February 1.

Located in the rolling grasslands just outside LA, the cluster of desert buildings know as Paramount Ranch was originally a Paramount Pictures film set, used intermittently over the years for an array of films and programs. Still equipped with a Western-style Sheriff’s office, a blacksmith, and a salon, the location is now running it’s second annual art fair, described by organizer Liz Craft as something “between an art fair, a party, a curated show and a performance”.

While last year felt more like an exhibition than a fair, this year brings a stacked list of contributing artists – including Carlos/Ishikawa, Evelyn Yard, Truth & Consequences and Project Native Informant – as well as almost 20 projects and performances over the two-day event (including Amy Yao, Amanda Ross-HoOscar Tuazon). The fair wraps up with a “showdown” after-party on February 1 with a set of music performances.

Just came to say HELLO @ KLEMM’s install photos

20 February 2014

The second of a three-part series of exhibitions at Berlin’s KLEMM’s galerie, conceived in collaboration with Alexej Meschtschanow and Ulrich Gebert, ‘Just came to say HELLO’, running January 17 to March 2, is a provoking insight into the myth of the person in the singular.

Split across the aesthetically and conceptually variant work of Amanda Ross-HoEmanuel GeisserFriedrich KunathMarkus KarstießMartín MeleKatja Novitskova and the late Philippe Vandenberg, a shared conception of each artist’s own unique vision interacting and conflicting with each other on the KLEMM’s exhibition floor, reflecting the duality of the drive to both communication and self-isolation.

Answering the question of where the herd ends and the individual begins has its hazards and curator Meschtschanow opts to complicate the drive to a resolution only more.

See some install photos from the exhibition in our media section to the top right of this page and check the KLEMM’S Gallery website for details of the exhibition. **
