Marilene Oliver doesn’t use rubberized bodies from dead Chinese prisoners for crafting the human body, she mainly creates her sculptures from CT scans using foam rubber & seed beads…
Marilene Oliver gained a BA in Fine Art Printmaking and Photomedia at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design and an MA in Fine Art Printmaking at the Royal College of Art, both in London, and now lives in Rio de Janeiro.
Her latest sculptures are based on a top-to-toe series of CT scans of an unidentified female she has never met. Olivier found dataset (known as MELANIX) in 2008 on the website of medical-imaging company OsiriX. She has used much of its information transforming into her layered sculptures….
Her works are currently being exhibited at her “Carne Vale” exhibition @ Beaux Arts London until November 6th. She will then exhibit next year in several science-related shows in Calgary, London & Bozen.
