Mattle, Hasbro or any other toy company should seriously consider manufacturing gigantic heroes & villains masks like the ones Benjamin F. Guy paints in his “Helm” series…
His oil paintings on canvas & wood are now being exhibited at the Collingwood Gallery (Melbourne) until November 4th, and we highly encourage you to visit them if you’re down there.
The HELM Portraits blend fantasy and reality while re-interpreting imagery from Benjamin’s youth. The paintings become doorways into childhood imagination where myths are revealed through the malleable nature of paint. The subject of the portrait is open to infinite possibilities, the face is obscured and they have become something else.
Many of the paintings he’ll be exhibiting can be seen on his blog (also the process), and as we were saying, if you happen to be in Australia by the end of the month, his exhibition will be running for 2 weeks…
