Guillaume Bresson @ Galerie Obadia – Paris
31/05/2012 @ 8:00 am - 21/07/2012 @ 5:00 pm
freeWhat happens underground, should stay underground, whether it’s good or bad… especially the bad. That’s what some politicians wish it happened, but nowadays is pretty impossible to cover and hide facts like before. Take Guillaume Bresson’s artworks for ex. which for the past few years have portrayed the banlieu French riots that became world-known back in 2005. He didn’t even need to be there, he just saw it in the news, the ultra-violence, the inconformity, asked a few of his mates to pose for him… and there you go.
Opening next Thursday the Parisian Galerie Obadia dedicates 2 months of retrospective to the Toulouse-born, Paris-based artist who’s turned urban violence into a contemporary classic and also adds his latest narrative works of realistic quirkiness and new impressive absurd classics.
His photo-computer-canvas technique which mixes figurative painting , idealized realism and multiplied gesticulation is amazingly seductive, that’s why Obadia are bringing him back to their space two years after he firstly exhibited in their gallery. More info on the gallery’s website.
