Andreas Züst @ Swiss Cultural Centre – Paris
12/05/2012 @ 8:00 am - 15/07/2012 @ 5:00 pm
freeAs small and hidden as the Parisian Swiss cultural centre might be, it sometimes hosts some incredible exhibitions. Their just-opened Andreas Züst collection exhibition brings some of the best pieces the multi-talented Swiss arist collected throughout his life.
The painter, photographer & art collector begin in the early 70s to document the Zürich art scene mixing subcultures, high culture and pop culture, and this exhibition opens a tiny window into that great mix of pieces and objects he reunited before dying in 2000.
1500 artworks, a private library of 12000 books, 10K vinyl records & cassettes, artifacts from the Artic, meteorites and even some kitsch Nazi memorabilia. If he didn’t have it, it probably didn’t exist.
A tiny but much enjoyable exhibition organised by the Parisian Swiss cultural centre and Züst’s daughter (Mara) who manages this vast collection. So if you have 10-20min this summer and drop by the central Parisian Marais neighborhood find the little pink spot of the CCS and you’ll enter Andreas’ very own wonderland.
