A.C.M. @ Aline Vidal – Paris
04/04/2013 @ 8:00 pm - 04/05/2013 @ 5:00 pm
freeOne of the many great works present at the first Parisian (and first French) Museum of Everything last year were those of French couple Alfred et Corinne Marie, whose baroque pieces did not only fit perfectly with the rare occasion but ended up being some of the most photographed works of the expo (even though it’s forbidden).
The English MOE has revived the interest for art brut wherever it goes, and here in Paris the mobile gallery “Aline Vidal” (which now moves again to the 3rd arrondissement) is ready to present a selection of A.C.M.’s miniature cathedrals.
From destroying all of his works after abandoning his art studies back in the early seventies to meting his “savior” Corinne, Alfred Marie went through a lot of pain & effort to keep creating with his pebbles, iron threads and all those found materials he used to put together.
A.C.M. give to their objects a new life, and so these objects become autonomous sculptures bit by bit. From the 90s onwards Alfred develops a new work typology, his most recognisable pieces. After selecting scraps from old typewriters, alarm clocks, transistors or electronic pieces, A.C.M transforms them: cleaning, sanding, acid bath, oxidation…
