Next Wednesday a door to the future will open in central Paris. No need to take Marty McFly’s car but simply immerse yourself into the great selection of installations La Gaîté have selected for us, now that exams are nearly over nothing more refreshing and empowering than a good futuristic shot.

Starting  Feb 1st the digital arts center has concentrated a good bunch of digital masters & collectives to “recreate” the future (next 50 years), the present seen from the future (2062) and a quick recap of La Gaîté Lyrique bicentenary that if everything goes well… it will still exist in 50 years.

The number and quality of the artists is large and unquestionable…. Pleix, Nodesign, Anne Frémy, David Guez… they’ve all been given loads of creative freedom & pretty much the whole space La  Gaîté has in the 3rd arrondissement up to the 4th floor to interpret individual and collective experiences. What shall you get?

A look into the future doesn’t only imply amazing architectural orgasms and omnipresent virtual worlds, local and micro-environmental issues like city provisioning is something Damian Chivialle is willing to tackle.

Take his “micro-farm” project, we all know how shared farming works in small cities and communities, but in highly densely urban areas such as NYC or London some solutions like Farmlab become indispensable. Will we all end up having a micro-container outside our building or a roof garden in the coming years?

One of the big names for the exhibition are Pleix collective indeed. They’ll be presenting 8 new works focused around overconsumption… humans, in our ever growing reproduction scheme with the eternal ambition of acquiring an “always-satisfied” state of mind, tend to accumulate countless (and many times useless) objects. We have more… but we’re more alone than ever before, especially in occidental cultures.

And if Pleix are world-famous, Nodesign are pretty big in the digital French panorama. Bringing an overview of technological advancements up to 2062 and their well-known Fabwall we got to see last year @ Le Cube for their 10th anniversary…

And all of these are a few examples of the many works you’ll find in the exhibition during the next couple of months, then, as usual,  La Gaîté are organising a laaaaaarge list of parallel events, conferences, talks, concerts and performances; that go from Superdramas’ latest performance “Youdream” to the celebration of Raster Noton’s 15th anniversary (shouldn’t it be 16th?).

We’ll see what kind of future and look into the past from the future these people propose. 7€, as any other exhibitions @  La Gaîté… the rest of the program really varies.. from free to amazingly expensive. Your move future lover.
