Ritual, magic & the cultural life of jewellery with the fictional worlds of Darja Popolitova

Tactilite: Stone that Tickles the Gaze, a solo exhibition by Darja Popolitova, is on at Tallinn’s Hobusepea Gallery, running August 5 to 30.

With installation and video elements, the show animates the jewellery work of Popolitova with narrative and myth, centring around a fictitious witch character named Seraphita. As noted in the press release, Popolitova’s work highlights jewellery as “powerful wearable symbols,” acting as conduits for “gift-giving rituals, tactile moments, personal memories.”**
