SUPERHOST, a group exhibition curated by Like A Little Disaster and PANE project, was on at Foothold/Like A Little Disaster, Polignano a Mare, running August 4 to October 22.
Featuring Maya Ben David, Monia Ben Hamouda, Chiara Camoni, Daniela Corbascio, Stine Deja, Débora Delmar, Andreas Ervik, Michele Gabriele and and others, the title bitingly plays on Airbnb’s lexicon. SUPERHOST unpacks how “leisure and entertainment are shaped by the compulsive character of a society folded onto its smartphone,” while taking the form of an imagined Airbnb lodging.
The show also includes Lucia Leuci, Valerio Nicolai, Ornaghi & Prestinari, Jaakko Pallasvuo + Anni Puolakka, Nuno Patrício, Clemen Parrocchetti, Andrew Rutherdale, Namsal Siedlecki, Micah Schippa, Mireille Tap, The Institute of Queer Ecology and many more. It examines authenticity and tourism in our gig economy moment, where homes are let out as hotels and tourist experiences are flattened for Instagram-ability.**
