Xao is releasing LP Eternal Care Unit via London and Glasgow’s Astral Black on April 5, with a preview of track ‘Embryno’ premiering on AQNB today. The Leeds-born, Berlin-based producer dropped an EP with label called Alloys in 2017, more recently contributing to London collective C.A.N.V.A.S.’s Cipher compilation featuring the likes of  Ben VinceFlora Yin-Wong and object blue, among others.

Eternal Care Unit to follow takes its title from the medical slang for morgue and draws further away from Xao’s London influences, while contemplating “the transcendental shift from the physical to the spiritual realm” via ambient post-club tracks that are eerily calming. In among track titles like ‘Hydroxyapatite’ and ‘Corvid Tendencies’, ‘Embryno’ comes as a play on the word for an organism in the early stages of reproduction. The music to accompany it acts a building wave of gentle atmospherics and steady rhythms the draws into a peak it never quite reaches.**
