Exploring our political universe through the fleshy lens: Sylbee Kim’s The Red Liquid and Narcissus at Nevan Contempo

, 25 September 2017

Sylbee Kim presents solo exhibition The Red Liquid and Narcissus at Prague’s Nevan Contempo running September 9 to October 7.

Curated by Christina Gigliotti, the show explores the space between plutocracy and narcissism, and “visualizes different parallels in space, through mirroring and framing physical elements.” Looking at our political universe  through a visceral, fleshy lens, the work takes the concept of narcissism as a starting point to observe how the relationship to our bodies.

The installation, which gives off a heat through a red painted floor and a large scale projection, brings together film and sculptural elements that create a narrative around  ‘pulsating and mortal body’ that is narcissus re-enacted.**
