Cooper Jacoby is presenting a solo exhibition, Stagnants, at Berlin’s Mathew gallery, opening January 28 and running to March 19.
Featuring a series of wall-mounted sculptures of the same name, the show carries on Jacoby’s ongoing interests in “forms of capture, distribution and material malfunction nested within ubiquitous interfaces”.
Where earlier work by Jacoby was modelled on “circulatory hardware”, like door handles and mailboxes, Stagnants examines more “embedded infrastructures”, including casts of the curbs and sewer drains of the artist’s base in Los Angeles as examples of “inlets into a subterranean network of polluted flows”.
