British artist Hannah Collins is taking over the Camden Arts Centre with a large solo exhibition of her photography and installation pieces, opening on July 4 and running until September 13.
Known for her large, unframed photographs and immersive film and sound installations, Collins will exhibit some of her most moving works from the multi-decade career, including her series of interior scenes of inhabitations portraying the makeshift refuges of East London and the transitory hut life of Nelson Mandela in his teenage years.
Accompanying her photographs are sound and film installations, including three-channel soundscapes capturing members of the Black Panther Party and radical activists and social revolutionaries of the ’60s and ’70s. The exhibition kicks off with an introductory talk prior to the opening on July 4 with writer and critic John Slyce.
