In conjunction with Artist Run Festival, Takeshi Shiomitsu and Sandra Vaka Olsen are presenting joint exhibition Every line ever spoken at Copenhagen’s 68, opening May 9 and running to May 31.
Exploring “the ideology of purity in contemporary aesthetics” the two artists examine the ‘immaculate’ across media with the sleek digital surfaces of an “inherited and culturally normalised expression and history”.
Working across the material and immaterial without distinction, it makes sense that the exhibition, drawing on concepts set up in conversation between the artists, should place an emphasis on the specific processes of materialisation of these ideas.
That’s especially when you consider the role of language, both verbal and visual, as abstraction with very real consequences in constructing identity and convention. Here’s a thesaurus.com search of ‘purity’ as an example.
See the 68 website for details. **
