Feels extremely good to get this late-summer videos in this incipient winter with that unique Balearic style by El Guincho. Nicolás Méndez directs the latest video for Pablo’s new single… taken from his also just relased album Pop Negro (well, it’s actually part of his homonym “Bombay the movie“) Hurray!Nicolás & El Guincho use the lately popular in Spain “destape” style typical in the 70s movies (just like Cuentos Modernos by Gentle Music Men) something that the American media have categorised as not being suitable for work…. well…. depends on which one.
As we were saying Young Turks / XL Recordings just released his 2nd album, “Pop Negro” which he mixed with Jon Gass (Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston), and we haven’t reviewed it because we’re not entirely convinced about his “black pop” as a whole nurturing recommended piece… but you can’t deny “Bombay” and this video are pure art.
We love that Carl Sagan “imaginative cosmos” introduction…. we’ll accompany you if you keep it like this.
