Youtube Play @ Guggenheim Museum – New York

, 23 June 2010

After learning about Vimeo’s Festival + Awards last May we just discovered that Youtube is also organising it’s very own “creative video Biennal” in collaboration with the Guggenheim museum…

The partnership & website (embedded in Youtube) is called Youtube Play and invites filmmakers to submit their works for a “Biennal of Creative Video” to launch this fall at all the Guggenheim in New York, with simultaneous shows in Berlin, Bilbao and Venice. The 20 winners will be chosen by the museum’s jury of experts. The deadline for submitting your videos is also the 31st of July.

One submission per person is allowed, no longer than ten minutes in length. The videos must be non-commercial, should not have been distributed publicly for two years prior to June 14, 2010 and should be accompanied by a written statement no more than 1,000 words (wow, the conditions are clearly copy+paste from Vimeo’s contest).

They choice is yours now! Participate in the Vimeo “creative video community” contest & festival or in Youtube’s Play “first video biennal“… what sounds cooler? An artist’s collective contest with a substantial cash price or a Utube endorsed event show with a 3 day display” (no cash sorry) @ the grandious Guggenheim museum?

Participate on both shall you! If your video is eligible for one it will very probably be for the other so….
