Madrilona @ Café Galdós – Madrid

, 9 April 2010

Yes, there’s a long historical rivalry between the two biggest Spanish cities: Madrid (traditionally considered the economical capital) and Barcelona (the cultural one), and not many artists have dared to bring them together and fusion their personalities frightened of what “their loyal citizens might say”.

Aleix Saló is a Catalan artist who’s latest exhibition is precisely about that, using Madrid & Barna as a basis for his new collection of drawings called “Madrilona… a way of portraying the socio-political reality & historical relationship of these two major cities.

The exhibition started two weeks ago although it wasn’t officially inaugurated until yesterday @ Café Galdós, the very heart of Madrid; and it will finish next Saturday 17th.

And as we usually say… if you happen to be in Madrid don’t hesitate, have a beer or a coffee at Café Galdós and keep an eye on this young artist!
