Berlin Art Prize 2016 submissions open to Sep 1

Submissions are now open to all Berlin-based artists for the Berlin Art Prize, running to September 1.

Eligible nominees, selected by a jury, will present their work in an exhibition which will run from November 12 to December 10. Three artists will receive the independent award, which includes a trophy, prize money and a four-week residency in Georgia beginning March 2017.

The Jury includes curator and art critic Karen Archey, art critic Kito Nedo and artists Emeka Ogboh, Susanne M. Winterling and Ahmet Öğüt.

Previous winners include Rike Horb, Julian Weber and Miriam Yammad.

Irregular Readings II @ Exile, Jul 30

Irregular Readings II is on at Berlin’s Exile on July 30.

Hosted by artist Nancy Davenport —whose Polaroids exhibition is currently on show and will close an hour prior to the event —the programme presents “vocal actions” by artists and writers including Alex Turgeon, Hanne Lippard, Martin Kohout, Patrick Fabian Panetta, and Steven Warwick.

Of the aforementioned artists, Lippard, Kohout and Warwick have each taken part in an aqnb x Video in Common video editorial collaboration, with each artist extrapolating on their work across disciplines, including spoken word, publishing or even script-writing.

Other participants include Anna Jandt, Elijah BurgherKinga KielczynskaSabina Maria van der Linden, Susanne M. Winterling and Trevor Lee Larson.
