Jacopo Miliani @ La Plage, Jul 22 – Aug 20

19 July 2016

Jacopo Miliani is presenting solo exhibition Burning Desire at Paris’ La Plage, opening July 22 and running August 20.

The press release is a poetic musing around notions of suspension, risk, fear and processes of actualisation or physicalisation:

Dot Dot Dot became boing boing boing,

A group of suspended objects.

The Milan-based artist has worked previously with text and image within the context and act of publication, and specifically with the book series, ‘Self Pleasure Publishing’ which he set up in 2014 and took to London’s White Cubicle Toilet Gallery to launch exhibition and text, Your boss has given you this factory. What do you think? earlier this year. Miliani also presented solo show, Studio for a Choreographed Display for ICA’s Fig-2 series in 2015.

biotic / abiotic @ The Gallery Apart, Nov 26 – Jan 24

25 November 2014

Rome’s The Gallery Apart brings its latest group exhibition, titled biotic/abiotic and running to their space from November 26 to January 24.

The show comes out of the Jupiter Woods curatorial platform and takes the idea of interconnectivity directly into its design, curated by Jupiter Woods’ Hanna Laura Kaljo and Lucy Lopez and in collaboration with The Gallery Apart and the Nomas Foundation.

Featuring eight different artists and artist collaborations – including Emily Jones, Chiara Camoni, Jacopo Miliani and V4ULT‘s Anna Mikkola among others – biotic / abiotic explores the points of connection (and dissolution) between the natural and the cultural.

Acting Truthfully… @ Tenderpixel, Nov 13 – Dec 20

10 November 2014

Tenderpixel Gallery is hosting a new group exhibition, titled Acting Truthfully Under the Circumstances* and running at their London space from November 13 to December 20.

The exhibition – which features seven international artists and artist pairs, including Feiko Beckers, Anja Kirschner and David Panos, Jacopo Miliani, Timothy Ivison and Julia Tcharfas, and Rehana Zaman – commences with a private view on November 13 accompanied by a performance by Beckers.

The exhibition itself takes its name from a video installation by Kirschner and Panos exploring acting exercises developed by actor (and acting teacher) Sanford Meisner, hinting to the performative “post-Brechtian and postdramatic theatre” aspect of the show. Where Beckers’s performance stages personal stories of problematic human relationships in The Exact Opposite of the Exact Opposite, Miliani’s series Folding Characters combines found footage of scene photographs from plays with a collection of folded fabrics, and Ivison and Tcharfas, in turn, created a reading room and event space after Cecil Court’s antique bookshops.
