‘WOW HYBRIDS’ @ IJV, Jan 16

15 January 2014

Berlin-based artists Marius Schmidt and Judith Sönnicken are presenting a joint show, WOW HYBRIDS, at London’s Institute of Jamais Vu on January 16.

The two artists share a fascination with science and physicality, while expressing that in differing ways. Sönnicken’s approach to gravity and dimensionality comes out across media, from sculpture to video, while Schmidt works with collected props and documents, characters and narratives in pursuit of new dimensions. Sönnicken recently exhibited in the Statute of Limitation group show at Green. Art. Gallery in Dubai, while she and Schmidt presented group exhibition Thermodynamic Twilight in the form of a “multidimensional slideshow” with other artists in Lisbon.

Oliver Hull @ IJV, Nov 14

12 November 2013

Western Australian artist Oliver Hull is presenting A Meteor at The Institute of Jamais Vu in Manor House London, opening November 14 and running to December 5, by appointment.

Based in illustration and drawing on a practice built on personal anxiety, evidently Hull is externalising the angst into those nebulous collective fears we all share. Or maybe not.
