The problem with having a body / is that it always needs to be somewhere group exhibition is on at London’s The Approach, opening April 6 and running to May 14.

Curated by Nora Heidorn, the show includes work by artists across generations including Alexandra Bircken, Heidi Bucher, Kiki Kogelnik, Juliana Cerqueira Leite, Paul Maheke, B. Ingrid Olson, Zilia Sánchez and Ana Vieira.

Focusing on performance and spatiality through physical labour and movement, the exhibition explores “the way the female body occupies and structures its surrounding space” through a variety of media including video, photo, textiles, latex, mirrors and more. Some of the works will “themselves perform: posing for pleasure, they seem self-aware of their capacity to incite desire and of their status as beautiful objects in the gallery, offered up to the audience for inspection.”

The At the Cliffs of River Rhine group exhibition is on at Münchenstein’s Oslo10, opening November 17 and running to December 18.

The show features work by Ana Andra, Alexandra Bircken, Heidi Bucher, Feminist Land Art Retreat, Luca Francesconi, Christine und Irene Hohenbüchler, Stuart Middleton, and Lucia Elena Prusa among others.

The exhibition is curated by Florentine Muhry & Cathrin Mayer and has an accompanying text by Fabian Leitgeb that scrolls through the work in poetics:

“…A lot of stuff is lying around; the whole room is covered. Drawn on often washed linen, ripped indigo colored cotton; a sculpture titled Light and Fluffy Sea Eel; boiled alpaca wool and sea snails as a sign of a withdrawn heart…”
