‘Eye of Palm’

Gabriela Salazar @ Efrain Lopez Gallery, Jul 29 – Sep 4

26 July 2016

Gabriela Salazar is presenting solo exhibition Eye of Palm at Chicago’s Efrain Lopez Gallery, opening July 29 and running to September 4.

The show is a continuation of the New York-based artist’s “exploration of the transmission of narrative, possibility, and history via the built environment” and consists of ‘graspable’ sculptures described as “handrails and stone-like objects”.

The press release explains, “through the exhibition’s mise en scène, the artist implicates essential structures of human relationships to material, and nests bodily locations through implied proprioception”. The exhibition includes poetry, which appears to play a large part in Salazar’s work.
