MUTEK 2015 is running in Montréal in the week beginning May 25, and in Athens, Oliver Laric, Marlie Mul and Katja Novitskova are among the participants in NEON’s Terrapolis group exhibition in collaboration with London’s Whitechapel Gallery. Online, Vince Mckelvie is showing on “file-based” exhibition space Panther Modern.

In London, JACK댄스 is putting on another show at Power Lunches, Rausch Turning presents Bahamian Moor and Jack Strange, Josh Whitaker and Holly Hendry are among the artists taking part in Turf ProjectsTRU LUV exhibition. DAM Projects, founded by Daniella Rose King, Amanprit Sandhu and Morgan Quaintance, is presenting a one-day exhibition by OliMay 27 Terry for its Sunday School series, and Hito Steyerl and Karen Archey are among the participants at the ICA‘s Fear of Missing Out event. Sounds like… is launching with the NO SCREENING event at IMT Gallery.

In Berlin, Thomas Jeppe, Flora Klein and Agatha Valkyrie are some of the artists taking part in The Way of the Novel group exhibition at Oracle Berlin, while Lotic and Air Max ’97 are on the line-up at Dönerteller Versace’s party at Konzulát.

There are more events than exhibitions in the week beginning May 18, with a few exceptions being at New York’s Kimberley-Klark with a group exhibition including Mirak Jamal, Aidan Koch and Rebecca Peel among others, Andrew Norman Wilson and Keith J. Varadi‘s joint Heartburn Cocktail in Paris, and Adham Faramawy‘s Hyperreal Flower Blossom in London.

Other events happening in the UK capital include the Self Publish, Be Happy event at Tate Modern, running alongside the annual Notting Hill Carnival, which Berlin’s ACUD will itself be celebrating with its Carnival of Cultures event, including music from Berlin Community Radio‘s Sarah Miles and Anastasia Filipovna, as well as Rroxymore and Ilja Karilampi. Dan Bodan is performing Monarch Berlin, DJ Paypal is appearing at a Creamcake event, while TCF and Amnesia Scanner are playing Vienna.

Frieze New York is on in the week starting May 11, along with NADA NYC and the usual range of fringe events taking advantage of the visitors. Other things going on in the city at the same time include a show by Anna-Sophie Berger and Dena Yago called In A Future, Night at the Museum at MoMA PS1 including a presentation by Simon Denny and VR by Andrew Thomas Huang, there’s a group exhibition at American Medium and another one called SOAPY IV, including Max Brand and Laura Langer, among others.

In London, the Lumen Prize exhibition opens at Crypt Gallery, Holly White has a new solo show on at ANDOR gallery in Hackney and the third iteration of Viktor Timofeev‘s Proxyah video game will be online at Channel Normal.

Elsewhere, goodbye arm&sexy is closing with a party in Berlin, Cristine Brache and Agatha Wara are among the artists taking part in the Guccivuitton exhibition in Miami, there’ll be an Adam Linder performance at MoMAW in Warsaw and Neïl Beloufa has a show opening in Düsseldorf.

The art world would mostly be preoccupied with the 56th Venice Biennale in the week beginning May 4. Highlights at the prestigious Italian art fair including Burger King Venezia, Pizza Pavilion, The Internet Saga and SUNSCREEN online initiative listed in our short summary here of some things to look out for.

There are still things happening in other parts of the world, including an national election in the UK, along with parties and gatherings to celebrate/commiserate. There are new exhibitions at Arebyte Gallery, Millington|Marriot and Rod Barton, as well as the third in a series of events supporting the Multiverse Spring Residency at Wysing Arts Centre and Morgan Quaintance in conversation with Gery Georgieva around her Solo Romantika exhibition.

Elsewhere, the second of four shows in on for One Thoresby Street‘s S1 series in Nottingham, including writing by Candice Jacobs and Lindsey Mendick, Otto Byström’s Ratchet Shit is on at Helsinki’s Sorbus-galleria, and Amalia Ulman is speaking in Oberlin as part of Storage‘s excellent ongoing programme.

Gallery Weekend Berlin is on the week starting April 27, with a slew of events and exhibitions happening in the German city. Notably, Anna Zett, Mikkel Carl and Pakui Hardware are among the artists taking part in the Gislind Köhler-curated Crystal Readings, followed by events at CenterFuture Gallery, Sandy Brown and many more Berlin spaces. Marguerite Humeau, Olga BalemaDarja Bajagić and Yuri Pattison are among some of the artists showing throughout the city, while Black Cracker and Momus are performing live at HAU.

In London, Lisa Holzer is opening Keep All Your Friends at Rowing, Jupiter Woods has a group exhibition including Josephine Callaghan, Andrea De Stefani and Felix Melia to name a few, Michael Welsh, Tabor Robak and Mica Levi (aka Micachu) have shows in New York, and Oslo10 is extending Welcome to Ai Crib! with an installation by Agatha Valkyrie Ice in Münchenstein, Switzerland.

Art Brussels is on in Belgium on the week beginning April 20, with a couple events of interest surrounding the art fair, including a group exhibition at Galerie Albert Baronian.  There’s a show on at Oslo10 in Switzerland with an installation by Agatha Valkyrie Ice and a performance by DJ HVAD and the first Swimming Pool Projects exhibition, including Stefania Batoeva, Emanuel Röhss and Yves Scherer, is on in Sofia, Bulgaria.

In Berlin, Janus are putting on a show at Berghain’s Panorama Bar and David Ostrowski is presenting a special commission for 032c Workshop, while Britta Thie is opening her Translantics exhibition/ web series with a performance with Dan Bodan in Frankfurt.

In London, Jupiter Woods continues its at continental margins (propositions) programme with presentations by Lawrence Abu Hamdan and Emily Jones, David Douard is showing at Union Pacific and Erica Scourti, Hannah Black and Aisha Abid Hussuan are among the artists screening work at the April Salon commemorating 40 years of the Feminist Library.

Art Cologne is on in the week beginning April 13 with Kraupa-Tuskany Zeilder, KOW and Martin Van Zomeren being some of the participating galleries, Katja Novitskova, Daniel Keller and Slavs and Tatars among the artists being presented. SP-Arte is in São Paulo for the week beginning April 6, as well as MiArt fair in Milan, with Union Pacific, Carlos/Ishikawa, Mathew Gallery and Seventeen among the exhibitors. In New York, new work by by Barbara Hammer and Laure Provost is premiering at the Body2Body event in Brooklyn, Sarah Meyohas is discussing the artist-as-producer in the BitchCoin panel at the Swiss Institute and Anton Vidokle is screening work and speaking with Boris Groys at Artists Space. Work by Anna Zett and Josh Crowle is showing at Echo Park Film Center in LA.

In Berlin, Alessandro Bava is doing a retrospective on his e-zine ECOCORE at The Composing Rooms and a series of Meisterschule events is on at Gillmeir Rech. Amy Granat and Annina Herzer are presenting SMOOTHIE CONFERENCE at Jenifer Nails, including Katharina Fengler and Carlos Reyes among other artists, in Frankfurt, while Arcadia Missa is bringing Queer Thoughts to London in a group exhibition and Mathew Landry, Hamishi Farah and Sorawit Songstaya are among the artists showing at the Let The Cobbler Stick To His Last group exhibition in New York.

Bent Fest is on in the week starting March 30, at London’s Power Lunches with bands including Trash Kit, The Dykeness and hate fuck. Other events include Paul Kneale‘s Bad Vibrations that expands on  ideas touched on his New Abject online essay on dreamingofstreaming.com. JK_NET is closing its residency at Project/Number in an event contemplating the recent eclipse, and Philipp Timischl and Sarah Ortmeyer are presenting MEDITATION UNITED at tank.tv.

In Berlin, Mathew Gallery is presenting a performance by Eve Essex at Harlekin next door to the space and Lakuti is among the performers at Südblock’s Boo Hoo event. Elsewhere, Leslie Kulesh is opening It’s What’s Inside That Counts at San Francisco’s Et Al, Camilla Edström Ödemark is showing at Helsinki’s Third Space and Arcadia Missa‘s Rózsa Farkas is doing a Skype lecture at Oberlin’s Storage. The La Confidentielle Art Fair is running this week, starting March 23, at Bastille Design Center in Paris. There’s also a group exhibition featuring Adam Cruces, Adriana Ramić, Amitai Romm organised by New Galerie and Yves Klein Archives in the French city, as well as one featuring Tilman Hornig, Felicia Atkinson, Pierre Clément and Dustin Cauchi at Galerie Joseph Tang.

In London, Photofusion is hosting one-day group show Crossing the Black Atlantic with Juliana Huxtable and Derica Shields among its artists, while Harry Meadley, Sam Kenswil and Sam Keogh are in the lineup for Small bird’s nest with blue eggs inside at MMX Gallery. Santiago Tacetti‘s ISO 9001 will be his first UK solo exhibition, and Trust Magazine is launching at Ditto Press. Dena Yago, also of K-Hole, is in London to talk at the ICA and take part in Columbidae at Cell Project Space.

Outside of the UK capital, Auto Italia and Primary appear in conversation in Nottingham, and in Stockholm Body by Body, Jaakko Pallasvuo and Stefan Tcherepnin are showing at Minibar. Kari Altmann has a solo exhibition in Dublin, Mathieu Malouf is throwing a Total Sex Party in Mexico City and ‘Queen of Bounce’ Big Freedia is performing Berlin, along with DJ sets from Black Cracker and DREEA.

Art Dubai is running in the UAE this week, beginning March 16, where Slavs and Tatars are curating a programme and launching a companion publication to the Mirrors for Princes exhibition, currently running at NYU Abu Dhabi. Meanwhile, at Art Basel Hong Kong Wu Tsang and Nav Haq will appear in conversation on Post Global: Art After Identity Politics at the fair, while fellow speaker Guan Xiao is exhibiting alongside Katja Novitskova with Kraupa-Tuskany Zeidler.

LGBT Film Festival is on in London, as well as a few of smaller discussion and event series, including Material Cryptologies with Sæmundur Þór Helgason and Lars ‘TCF’ Holdhus among others and the REAL ESTATE multi-purpose project run by Fugitive Images. Outside of the capital, Timothy Morton is talking on Hyperobjects at Focal Point Gallery and Mathew Drage is among those appearing for Total Archive in Cambridge.

In Melbourne, Australia, Nicolas Ceccaldi, Amy Yao, Telfar and Zoe Latta of Eckhaus Latta are among those taking part in the Boulevard event, while Sarah Schönfeld is showing in Mexico City. In Berlin, Melanie Buehler and Goethe Institut‘s European Edition Lunch Bytes series is closing with a conference, Hannah Black, Anna Zett and Elvia Wilk are among those reading at Flutgraben e.V, and V4ULT is hosting a performative group show with Juliette Bonneviot, Aude Pariset and Rasmus Svensson among them.

In London, Rye Lane Studios is winding down its days at the Peckham studio space-cum-soon-to-be-luxury apartments with a screening event aptly-titled INVENTORY on the week starting March 9. Limehouse Town Hall reinforces said notion of endings with its clothing pun in THE OVER BALL dance party, featuring some suspected visual artist DJ sets and garment-making. Flat Time House is hosting the first of a monthly programme of film, performance and discussion at Peckham Plex and Jupiter Woods is opening a group exhibition featuring Andrew Norman Wilson, Harry Sanderson, Susan Schuppli and Tom Tlalim. Samuel Levack and Jennifer Lewandowski have their own show at Evelyn Yard.

Outside the city, Micachu & the Shapes are putting on their GOOD BAD HAPPY SAD performance at DIY theatre and art space Cube Cinema in Bristol, while London spaces Banner Repeater and Auto Italia, as well as Birmingham’s Eastside Projects, are collaborating in a UK/South Africa exhibition at Johannesberg’s Ithuba Arts Gallery, which also includes CUSS Group.

In Berlin, Francesca Gavin is curating a group exhibition with Aleksandra Domanović, Anthony Antonellis, Benedict Drew, Nina Beier and more, New Theater is putting on a new play with music by Dan Bodan and Mathew Gallery is showing Yuki Kimura. Meanwhile, Kareem Lotfy is one of the DJs playing at Native Self in Amsterdam, Heatsick performs at Villa Aurora in Los Angeles and Rachel de Joode, Marlie Mul and Anne de Vries are among those taking part in DEEP SCREEN in Pougues-les-Eaux, France.

This week, beginning March 2, New York City is playing host to The Armory Show and Independent NY, with galleries like Société, EOA.Projects, C L E A R I N G and Real Fine Arts exhibiting at one or both. Peripherally, White Flag Projects is running its inaugural publication event Issues featuring locally undistributed art periodicals including Bidoun, BOMB, Mousse and The Happy Hypocrite plus more. There are also openings at Mathew NYC, Artemisa and Room East.

Berlin Feminist Film Week begins in the German city, as well as a Wikipedia Edit-a-thon and London Calling night featuring female:pressure and Creamcake. Fabian Schoneich and Samuel Leuenberger are curating an exhibition in Zürich and Schöner Wohnen is showing with AirBNB in Milan. Sophie Jung has another exhibition at Temnikova & Kasela in Tallin and Jenna Sutela and Marti Kalliala have an open studio including work by Tuomas Toivonen, Nene Tsuboi and Jaakko Pallasvuo in Helsinki. The third and final iteration of Uffe Isolotto’s graphic novel about tragic Diff’rent Strokes star Dana Plato is on at TOVES in Copenhagen.

In London, Evan Roth is showing at Carroll / Fletcher and the first in a series of events for JK_NET’s residency at Project/Number starts with a Twerk talk by Fannie Sosa and lab by Joelle D’Fontaine. There’s also an exhibtion by @gaybar‘s Hannah Quinlan Anderson and Rosie Hastings at Arcadia Missa called Tifkas and Ravioli Me Away is playing a show on Friday.

The Ryan Trecartin and Lauren Cornell-curated 2015 Triennial, called Sound Audience starts at the New Museum in New York this week, with the majority of events and exhibitions elsewhere opening within a few days of each other.

Two double exhibitions are opening across London, including one from KERNEL, Sasha Litvintseva and Lewis Teague Wright at Union Pacific, as well as Olivia Erlanger solo at Seventeen Gallery alongside a group show curated by Attilia Fattori Franchini and including Emanuel Röhss, Debora Delmar Corp, AIRBNB Pavilion, plus more.

Also in the UK capital, artist-run space Rye Lane Studios is closing with an RSVP event, while LEAP in Berlin is doing that same. Elsewhere in Europe, Amalia Ulman will be delivering a lecture in Helsinki, Neïl Beloufa is opening an exhibition at Zero in Milan and Clémence de la Tour du Pin‘s Hotel Palenque commission is happening in Frankfurt.

Desktop Residency and Opening Times are hosting new works online, while Sonic Acts 2015 in Amsterdam features performances by M.E.S.H., Vessel and TCF. Slavs and Tatars, Monira Al Qadiri and GCC have exhibitions opening across two galleries in the UAE.

Events + exhibitions, Feb 16 – 22

Exhibitions and events of interest are more globally dispersed the week starting February 16. Highlights include a remotely assembled exhibition by Kareem Lotfy and political satirist Andeel at Cairo’s Nile Sunset Annex and A Form is a Social Gatherer group exhibition, featuring the likes of Adam Cruces, Tiril Hasselknippe, Philipp Timischl in Zürich.

Around London, Future Brown is playing the ICA, Slade students – including Sarah Boulton, Cristine Brache and Olga Koroleva – are presenting at Fictional Symposium at The Showroom and Patrick Staff is presenting at Chisenhale Gallery. In other UK cities Benedict Drew “& Friends” are performing Salon Dyslexic in Nottingham and Mat Jenner has an exhibition in Birmingham.

As for Berlin, Mirak Jamal and Santiago Taccetti are hosting a second Stoneroses exhibition, including the likes of Martin Kohout and Katharina Fengler, while elsewhere Angelo Plessas has a new solo exhibition in Athens and Leslie Kulesh is showing online with CosmoCarl.

Shifting focus away from some standout festivals and fairs starting the year, the week beginning February 9 is a big one for one-off events and exhibitions. Kimmo Modig and Shana Moulton will be performing in Athens and Nottingham respectively, while Hannah Sawtell, Jenny Moore and PC Music‘s Finn Diesel are performing in London.

Also in the UK capital, are new exhibition openings at Jupiter Woods, Project Native Informant, Grove House and Vilma Gold, while Eloïse Bonneviot is contributing to art label Caustic Coastal‘s first digital commission and the Pale Journal Issue 1 is launching at Space with performances and readings from artists including Sophie Jung and Anna Zett.

In Berlin, Leslie Kulesh is presenting as part of a Hotel Palenque commission at Center, while Emmy Skensved and Grégoire Blunt are showing eStamina at Import Projects, along with texts from Clémence de La Tour du Pin, Beny Wagner, Susan Ploetz among others. There’s an app launch happening at American Medium in New York and a poetry series launching at San Serriffe in Amsterdam, while London-based artist Hannah Perry is opening an exhibition in LA.

With Material Art Fair 2015 set to start in Mexico City this week, galleries and events of interest are bound to be centred around the Mexican capital. They include booths from Parallel Oaxaca, Queer Thoughts and New Galerie, as well as the Under a Thawing Lake exhibition presented by Dark Arts International, and an opening at Lodos Gallery.

In London, Space is showing work from three artist-run spaces including Piper Keys, The Duck and that of Caspar Heinemann, Morag Keil and Kimmo Modig from Life, while Viktor Timofeev is closing his Proxyah exhibition at Jupiter Woods and Dora Budor is appearing for an artist lecture at tank.tv.

Tabor Robak is one of the artists in a group show curated by Samuel Leuenberger called Constructed Culture sounds like Conculture in Dublin, Harm van den Dorpel has another solo show in Berlin, Caroline Ongaro is curating  Exquisite Collapse and Finnish performance group Vibes is presenting a site-specific installation at Helsinki’s SIC.

CTM and Transmediale 2015 kick off in Berlin this week, while Art Genève is also running in Geneva, and will include Arcadia Missa and Preteen Gallery as exhibitors with work by Amalia Ulman and Babak Ghazi; Phoebe Collings-James, Deanna Havas and Leslie Kulesh,  respectively.

Events in Berlin around CTM include performances by Evian Christ, Young Lean and 18+ (who are also doing a few dates across Europe), as well as a collaborative concert with Transmediale on the weekend. Sandy Brown is hosting its ☁︎ cave kino screening in the city outside of that, while in London Paul Kneale and Natalie Dray have solo openings, and Candice JacobsEXHALE  (to her earlier INHALE at Project/Number) is opening in Liverpool.

Elsewhere there’s another double-opening at Birsfelden’s SALTS, an exhibition in Reykjavík including work by Sæmundur Þór Helgason and another group show at Johannesburg’s The Goodman Gallery featuring work by Candice Brietz and Mikhael Subotzky among others.

Following a big first wave of events and exhibitions last week, there are still more to come, alongside London Art Fair this week. Those include Amitai Romm at V4ULT in Berlin, as well as a music event, hosted by producer Jacques Gaspard Biberkopf and featuring live and streamed DJ sets at Panke.

Exhibitions opening in the German city include one by Jaakko Pallasvuo at Future Gallery and Nicolas Ceccaldi at Mathew Gallery, while in London Monira Al Qadiri curates Jaykar: The Cheeky Video Scene of the Gulf to close the Never Never Land exhibition at EOA.Projects. Kim Asendorf and Ole Fach are showing at Carroll/Fletcher, with an opening performance by Helen Benigson, and Phoebe Collings-James has a solo exhibition at Italian Institute of Culture.

Elsewhere, Harm van den Dorpel, Keith J. Varadi and Cally Spooner have exhibitions across LA, New York and Milan, respectively, and Queer Thoughts has organised a group exhibition across three different locations in Nicaragua.
