Moving with the artist in APPARAT at Kunstverein Braunschweig, Jun 3 – Aug 13

30 May 2017

The APPARAT group exhibition at Kunstverein Braunschweig opens June 3 and is running to August 13.

Curated by Christina Lehnert, the show will explore “shift of perspectives and the alliance of humans and machines” and includes work by Aleksandra Domanović, Andreas Fischer, Pakui Hardware, Alexander Kluge, Daria Martin, Sandra Mujinga, Wyatt Nihaus, Margaret Raspé, Raphaela Vogel and Jan Vorisek.

Inspired by Margaret Raspé (*1933), a filmmaker from the 1970’s who mounted the camera on her head to record her daily activities, the artists respond on what it means to ‘move’ with the artist. Focusing on a younger generations relationship to this idea and our relationship to recording now, the exhibition examines the apparatus as a way to approach the subject of “producing art, expanding human capabilities in the sense of a posthuman man-machine, and as an independent system, that creates its own narratives and immersive spaces.”

Steel Town @ Vdrome, Jun 28 – Jul 7

30 June 2014

Vdrome is celebrating the launch of Steel Town, a film by Daria Martin and Massimiliano Mollona that will run on the site from June 28 to July 7.

The online platform –launched by Milan’s Mousse magazine in February 2013 and with a viewing location at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit –is known for its high quality digital film screenings, curated to investigate the relationship between cinema and contemporary art in the digital landscape.

Martin and Mollona’s Steel Town takes the format of a ‘telenovela’ to explore the lives of the people of Volta Radonda, a steel-producing industry town in Brazil.

The launch introduces the film alongside an interview with the film’s directors.
