Vienna Art Week, Nov 14 – 20

14 November 2016

Now in its 12th year, the annual contemporary Vienna Art Week returns to the city, running November 14 to 20.

This year’s theme ‘Seeking Beauty’ will bring together an international community of over 200 events through a range of exhibitions, performances talks and film screenings to explore “how beauty is perceived today in all its diversity and contradictions, opening new aesthetic, philosophical and socio-political perspectives in the process.”

Kicking off the weekend will be an opening party featuring a live VJ set by Andrew Margolies Mezvinsky & lichterloh at Dorotheum. A continual performative interview marathon will discuss the age-old topic of beauty in art, how it changes over time and the significance of it now, featuring French artist ORLAN, Victoria and Albert Museum curator Mark Evans, choreographer Doris Uhlich and literary theorist Barbara Vinken among others.

Throughout the city there will also be an Open Studio Day where over 70 studios will be open to the public, as well curated exhibitions including  Ai Wei Wei’s Translocation- Transformation, and new film screening by artist Darja Bajagić as part of Anna-Sophie Berger’s exhibition at mumok among many others.
