A sequence which corresponds

Sanna Helena Berger @ Union Gallery, May 13 – Jun 25

Sanna Helena Berger is presenting her second solo exhibition A sequence which corresponds at London’s Union Gallery, opening May 13 and running to June 25.

As the first of a two-part exhibition programme curated by Rosanna Puyol, the show comes accompanied by a short text responding to the notion that the “image of destruction” follows the work of destruction: “I tried to apply this to a process of displacement, saying: the image that survives displacement is the image of displacement.”

The writing goes on to suggest Berger will interrogate this apparent impossibility: “Is it because displacement goes beyond destruction? Or that displacement implies a destruction of memories which can hardly translate into one image?”

Berger is an artist who works primarily with performance, showing at Jupiter Woods in 2015 and as part of the ‘A Night With Jupiter Woods’ event at Paris’ Shanaynay,
